The global sporting event is back in France almost 100 years to the day after the last time it was held in Paris in 1924! The organisers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the events will be held at some of the capital's most beautiful sites, from the Seine to Versailles, including the Stade de France, the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde and the Trocadéro. Amazing!
And before all the sport gets going, there is the opening ceremony, a magnificent sound and light show that will be the centre of everyone’s attention. It is an opportunity to showcase our country's rich cultural and artistic diversity, whilst also recalling the symbols of world unity, friendship and fair play embodied by the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. When will the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games be held?
The event will take place from Wednesday 24 July to Sunday 11 August, mainly in Paris. 32 sports divided up into 329 events: from gymnastics to athletics - always the main attraction - not to mention water sports, racket sports and combat sports, the complete range of sports will be celebrated to the delight of the spectators!
