Girona, the ideal holiday destination!

Less than an hour from the French border, between the hinterland and the seaside, Girona, veritable pearl of Catalonia, beckons you to stop off and explore during your camping holiday. Crossed by the River Onyar, this provincial capital in Catalonia shelters a multitude of treasures to discover, from the narrow streets of its famous Jewish quarter to the heights of the ramparts that enclose its old town. OK, but where will we sleep?

In the heart of the untamed scenery of the Costa Brava, your Sandaya campsite welcomes you between Mediterranean Sea and turquoise blue swimming pools. On-site, enjoy an incredible choice of activities, from the free entertainment in the children’s clubs to the inter-camper sports tournaments. Restaurant, tapas bar, grocery store, shuttle bus for the beaches... Everything is close at hand in your luxury campsite, all you have to do now is decide whether you prefer a cottage, lodge tent or camping pitch for the whole family!

Visit Girona with the family

Historical, secretive and brimming with charm, Girona is appreciated as much by adults as by children. And if there are “Game of Thrones” fans amongst you, then your visit to Girona with the family will be even more captivating!

Begin by crossing the Les Peixateries Velles bridge built by Gustave Eiffel, and you’ll find yourselves in the fascinating Call Jueu (Jewish quarter) in the heart of the old town. With its tangle of cobbled streets, it is considered the best preserved in Spain. Why will the kids adore it so much? For its fascinating layout. Untouched since the Middle Ages, it gives every impression of taking a journey back in time! End your visit with a walk around the ramparts of Girona, for their gorgeous views over the whole town.

Visit Girona as a couple

As an alternative to the effervescence of Barcelona and the beach trips next to your Sandaya campsite, Girona makes the ideal destination for a romantic outing together. With its museums, multicoloured waterside houses and monuments dating from every period, Girona has so many wonderful tales to tell. The unmissable Call Jueu brings together many of the most interesting sites, such as the Museum of Jewish History, the Cinema Museum with its impressive collection and the Museu d’Historia. The perfect place to begin!

Then, for a total change of atmosphere, discover the superbly preserved Arab baths, a visit that will take only a few minutes. And, as a bonus, you can also enjoy a delightful panorama over the town from the roof! Finally, if you’re longing to immerse yourselves in nature, head for the large La Devesa park before hitting the road back to your campsite.
