The Valensole Plateau, a must-visit during your holiday!

It is an image of such striking beauty that it has become famous around the world. Let your Sandaya campsite in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence take you to discover the renowned Valensole Plateau, covering an incredible 800km² vibrant with colour and heady with scent! To enjoy the lavender at its very best, make it a date in Valensole between mid-June and mid-July, when the fields are in flower. So now you know, it’s time to book exactly the accommodation to suit you, at a Sandaya campsite near the Valensole Plateau!

In a tent, caravan or campervan, or in one of our fully-equipped holiday rentals, immerse yourself in the exceptional landscapes of the Verdon Natural Regional Park. Discover France’s very own Grand Canyon! Canoeing, canyoning, climbing or hiking, whichever your favourite sport, enjoy it here in the heart of nature. Then, after a busy day, relax in the lagoon-blue swimming pools of the campsite’s water park. Discover how blissful a holiday can be!

Visit the Valensole Plateau with the family

This is one spectacle the kids won’t forget in a hurry! Covering some 800km², the Valensole Plateau is the largest area dedicated to lavender-growing in France. Without picking the flowers, they can wander between the rows of plants and have fun trying to identify the different varieties of lavender according to their shape and colour. And it goes without saying that a family photo is an absolute must in this unique setting!

In the height of summer, the sun is at its zenith in Provence. Fortunately the Saint-Croix Lake is waiting with its emerald waters, for a refreshing bathe all together. It’s also the starting point for a trip through the sublime Gorges du Verdon!

Visit the Valensole Plateau as a couple

Offering scenes of rare beauty redolent with heady fragrance, the Valensole Plateau is without doubt one of the most romantic sites in southern France. Enjoy the simple pleasures of strolling through the landscape together, hand in hand, as you photograph it from every angle! But the magic doesn’t end there…

Surrounding the plateau some of the most gorgeous villages of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region are just begging for a visit. Valensole, that gave its name to the plateau, is not to be missed: discover its narrow streets leading to the church, its age-old washhouse, its small picturesque squares with their sunny terraces... On the route back to the campsite, take time out to explore Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, listed as one of the “most beautiful villages of France”. And it won’t take you long to see why!
