Make it a date in the month of June to be part of the Palafrugell Spring Festival near your Sandaya campsite. After all you can hardly miss it: the whole town will be out in force to prepare the festivities and all the villages of Baix Empordà are invited! On the programme for this exciting weekend: markets so you can taste all the local specialities; shows for children and grown-ups; all-singing, all-dancing parades and street concerts throughout the entire town.

And if the Spring Festival is so dear to the locals, it’s because they had to fight so hard to continue celebrating it, since it first began in 1963. That was the year the Franco regime prohibited carnivals in Spain... The Spring Festival, a cunning alternative dreamt up by the inhabitants of Palafrugell, was born! As a tribute to its origins, the festival draws to a close with the famous Costa Brava Carousel, also known as the “carnival of carnivals”, when impressive multicoloured floats parade through the town. A spectacular sight to enjoy at least once during your Sandaya stay!
