The island of Jersey, the ideal holiday destination!

With shopping, a museum, sandy beaches and breathtaking island scenery, Jersey – or the “island of flowers” – can be reached in just an hour on a ferry from Barneville-Carteret, and has so much to offer. On foot or on a bicycle along the island’s paths or through the narrow streets of its capital, you’ll be won over by the peaceful beauty of the most French of the British Isles!

At the end of a lovely day on English soil, head happily back to your cosy nest for a great night’s sleep. After some welcome rest, the next day you’ll be ready for new adventures and activities: how about swimming in the water park or the sea? A fun afternoon for the kids at the free children’s clubs? And later on, you can all get together to enjoy the evening entertainment. Welcome to Sandaya: camping inspired by freedom!

Visit the island of Jersey with the family

A family trip to Jersey couldn’t be easier or more enjoyable! Simply alternate cultural tours with fun activities to make sure there’s something for everyone on your day out. Want a quick preview? Then follow our guide! In the morning, visit castles and museums, such as the spectacular Mont Orgeuil Castle (also known as Gorey Castle), built in the 13th century, and the maritime museum where you can learn more about life at sea. Your young sailors will love it!

Then devote your afternoon to nature and its wonders. First stop, the zoo and its many furry friends. In this 13-hectare park, the monkeys, tortoises and multicoloured birds are the stars and will thrill campers big and small. Then set off for a lovely walk or cycle ride to admire the island’s beauty. One final stop before you head back to the continent: an afternoon snack on the beach to round off your English day out in style.

Visit the island of Jersey as a couple

Jersey is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway with your sweetheart and it also offers a wide range of outdoor activities, on land or at sea! Wander through the streets of Saint Helier, the island’s capital, and look out for the indoor market, the art gallery and Elisabeth Castle. You can also set off to explore the island along one of its hiking trails.

Turn to the sea and take your pick from surfing, kayaking, swimming or a romantic stroll along the water’s edge as the sun sets. And make sure you take some time for a gourmet break! Forget the reputation assigned to English food – Jersey’s cuisine is full of flavour. Taste the Jersey Wonder, a kind of donut, and the beef that needs no introduction. And then, of course, there is the extra-fresh local seafood. Go on, treat yourself!

Camping Island of Jersey: our handy tips for a successful stay

As you might expect, the seafood in Jersey is wonderfully fresh and delicious. We recommend feasting on a fabulous seafood platter at a table looking out to sea!

Jersey is also a fantastic spot for amateur or experienced surfers. The water is a bit chilly but you can be sure of the waves and the thrills! So, into the water you go!

The budding Tiger Woods among you can practise your swing on one of the island’s golf courses. A game of golf with the sea as your backdrop is a rare treat to be enjoyed!

You can’t visit Jersey without stopping for a pint in a pub. Take the chance to try Black Butter, a marmalade-like spread made from apples, cider and spices, to be enjoyed in a typically British atmosphere!
