Book your spot for a campsite holiday near Port Grimaud

Totally car-free, the town of Port-Grimaud was born of the genius of the sailor-architect François Spoerry who dreamed of a town where land and water intertwined and where each resident could moor their boat opposite their own front door. A gamble that certainly paid off! Port-Grimaud is only accessible on foot, by electric boat or aboard the silent and non-polluting water taxis, the same rule applying to both locals and visitors. And it is from the water that you can really appreciate all the beauty of Port Grimaud. Travelling from canal to canal by boat is the best possible way to explore this unique destination. Admire the colourful façades designed by the architect as a blend of modernist and traditional Mediterranean styles, yet where the narrow streets seem to hark back to a mediaeval past. Just a few kilometres to the east, let your campsite in the Var open the doors to the innumerable treasures of the Côte d’Azur that line the Mediterranean coast. In the heart of its scenic landscapes, where stretches of soft fine sand alternate with wild creeks, you’ll be able to enjoy a very special setting and a holiday close to the Mediterranean Sea. Heading off with the family? Your Sandaya campsite has a superb programme of activities ready and waiting, perfect for campers of all ages! Fitness lessons, aquagym and a multisports ground to ensure you keep in shape, petanque courts for a relaxed game and ping-pong tables to really let rip! Seaside campsite

From its “lagoon-city” to its fine sand beaches bordering the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, Port-Grimaud is a destination resolutely turned towards the sea! With its 8 beaches and creeks along the Mediterranean shore, you’ll quickly find your favourite bathing spot. Near the town centre, Port-Grimaud’s main beach of soft fine sand stretches for several hundred metres with plenty of bars and restaurants to satisfy those feeling a little peckish or seriously thirsty. Slightly further away, as you follow the coast towards Sainte-Maxime, the Vieux Moulin beach is also well worth a trip. Its more difficult access ensures it is always less busy, even in high season, and its wilder unspoilt environment imparts its own unique charm. As the day draws to an end, the setting sun reflected in the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean waves offers a spectacle of rare beauty and one you really shouldn’t miss when visiting Port-Grimaud this summer!

The Château de Grimaud and its sublime panorama

After enjoying the fine sand of the beaches it’s time to head for the heights as you set off to explore the Château de Grimaud! A listed historical monument, the castle, of which only the ruins remain today, stands proudly above the village and offers a breathtaking view over the Port-Grimaud marina and its surrounding area. Visiting the château is free of charge, simply follow the stone staircase that climbs from the old town to the entrance to the mediaeval castle. Come and admire the towers and ramparts of this once noble residence along with its green theatre, home to the town’s summer festivities and celebrations. From the top of the hill you can enjoy an unspoilt view over Saint-Tropez and the Massif des Maures that stretches from Hyères to Fréjus. An exceptional panorama that more than rewards the effort required to reach it!
