Depending on the campsite you choose near Omaha Beach in Normandy, some beaches offer a range of watersports, including stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, catamaran sailing…

Together with Utah Beach, Gold Beach, Juno Beach and Sword Beach, Omaha Beach was one of the five landing sectors of Operation Overlord on 6 June 1944. Omaha Beach remains the most famous because it was on this beach that the Allies suffered the heaviest losses. Since D-Day, it has been nicknamed “Bloody Omaha”.

The Omaha Beach Memorial Museum at Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer displays a collection of period objects, uniforms, vehicles, photos, archive documents and a film, with an approach adapted for children.

The Caen Memorial Museum, focused on 20th-century history, also covers the events that took place during the Normandy landings.

The Les Braves sculpture on the beach at Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer pays tribute to the Allied soldiers. It represents the wings of hope, freedom and brotherhood.

The Normandy American Military Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer overlooks Omaha Beach. 9,387 white crosses stand in rows in this emotionally charged place, which is open all year round. The flag-lowering ceremony takes place to the sound of bugles every day at 4 pm or 5 pm, depending on the season.

La Pointe du Hoc, between Utah Beach and Omaha Beach, is associated with the assault by the Rangers who scaled the cliffs on 6 June 1944. The craters left by the bombs are still visible.

The town of Bénouville is home to the first house liberated by the British during the Battle of Normandy, as well as Pegasus Bridge.
