The renowned Côte de Nacre coast in Normandy owes its name to the pale mother-of-pearl colour and fine sand of the beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. And Omaha Beach is no exception! A beach that has become emblematic of the Normandy Landings, its full panorama opens out from the gently sloping plateau bordered by a narrow line of dunes. This was where, on 6 June 1944, the Rangers attacked the German gun battery after having climbed the 30m cliffs of the Pointe du Hoc.
Today, Omaha Beach is a haven of peace. Not only does it offer a journey back through time to rediscover its history, but also a gorgeous walk along the shores that border the English Channel in all its immensity. A must-visit during your family holiday at the Sandaya Côte de Nacre campsite!
