Bastia Citadel, the ideal holiday destination!

The citadel in Bastia is a local historical landmark and, over the years, the area around it has become an emblematic district. It is brimming with historical treasures, including the Palace of the Genoese Governors, which houses the museum, the cathedral dedicated to Saint Marie, and the sublime Louis XVI triumphal arch, behind which other places steeped in history hide, just waiting for you to discover them.

After a day spent exploring every nook and cranny of Bastia, you’ll be happy to head back to your holiday village for some well-deserved relaxation. And relax you most certainly will, whether in the cosy comfort of your mobile home, by the pool or lulled by the gentle sound of the Mediterranean! And your little campers in the meantime? They’ll be busy making new friends at the free children’s clubs!

Visit Bastia Citadel with the family

You’ll really enjoy visiting the Citadel with your family! The narrow, colourful streets of the Citadel district will be full of wonder for your children, who will explore as only kids know how: running through the streets, playing hide-and-seek and occasionally looking up to admire the surroundings!

Afterwards, take the whole gang for a tour of Bastia Museum, housed in the former Governors’ Palace. Visitors big and small will learn more about the history of Bastia and Corsica as they admire the objects, paintings, sculptures and the exhibitions. The very best kind of cultural outing!

Visit Bastia Citadel as a couple

Enjoy a romantic wander around the Citadel, hand in hand, first stopping to see the Cathedral of Saint Marie, which is just as beautiful inside as it is out. You will be won over by its neoclassical façade and even more so by the three richly decorated naves inside. Unsurprisingly, it is a listed historical monument.

To bring your day to a perfect close, the only choice is a stroll along the Aldilonda. This promenade at the foot of the city’s historic walls runs along the coast offering amazing views of the sky and sea. When the sun goes down, the Corsican sky is ablaze with colour – let the magic happen as you admire the show with your sweetheart!
