Château de Chambord

The first stop during your Sandaya camping holiday in the Val-de-Loire is Château de Chambord, the biggest and most famous of them all! Leading light of the Renaissance and a masterpiece financed by Francis 1st in 1519, the royal estate of Chambord takes centre stage in 5,500 hectares of grounds, the entrance to which is a mere 10 minutes from your family-friendly campsite. During your stay, you'll be able to come and see within its walls, as well as enjoy its decorative features, built around a central axis: the famous double helix staircase, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci. Outside, your tour starts with its huge, French-style gardens, which go back to the reign of Louis XIV and which were fully recreated in 2016. Come and enjoy a bucolic stroll through its historic grounds! Tourists from all over France, visitors passing through and people who just adore lovely sights should get ready for a feast for the eyes!

Château de Cheverny

South of Chambord, just half an hour from your Sandaya campsite, Château de Cheverny makes for a must-see during your journey of discovery of the châteaux of the Loire. Having remained intact since it was built during the 17th century, Château de Cheverny is especially popular with visitors due to its rich interior decor: during your visit, come and see its collection of arms dating from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, its famous Les Gobelins tapestry and its Louis XIV commode. Whatever the time of year, the gardens here are wonderful for a nice stroll to enjoy with the family, from its garden of 100,000 tulips to its bay tree maze. A place that's really popular among little adventure-minded campers too!

Château de Talcy

Just a few kilometres from Blois and only 15 minutes from your Sandaya campsite near Chambord, Château de Talcy, which is smaller in scale, is especially recognisable due to its mediaeval style. Inside, you'll be able to see what is known as the bedroom of Catherine de Médici, the superb dining hall and the Grand Salon, as well as its period furniture and various perfectly preserved paintings. Formerly a farming estate, the château, set in 7 hectares of grounds, stands in the heart of the cereal-growing plains of la Petite Beauce. During spring, you'll be able to see the orchard at its best, as well as its large collection of fruit trees and its lovely flower beds, which are bound to remind you of the gorgeous landscapes of protected nature in the Loire Valley!

Château de Beaugency

With its keep at a height of 36 metres, you can see Château de Beaugency beside the Loire well before you get within its walls. Famous, among other things, for being the home of Jean de Dunois, comrade of Joan of Arc (and known as the Bastard of Orléans), Château de Beaugency has retained its appearance as a royal lodge, which you'll see as you go from room to room. You'll be able to visit the wonderful chapel, the impressive armoury of its guard room, the royal bedchamber with its big four-poster bed, the oratory decorated with frescoes and the hanging garden, decorated with rose bushes, giving it the appearance of a wooded park. Whatever the time of year, young and old alike will feel as though they've entered a fairytale! So isn't it time, right now, that you paid a visit to your family-friendly, luxury Sandaya campsite?
