Once you’ve passed through the town’s most impressive gateway, the Porte de Saint-Michel, you’ll immediately find yourself back in the Middle Ages and a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, perfect to explore on foot or by bike. En-route, keep an eye out for the picturesque dormer windows, bastions and half-timbered houses that add their special magic to the voyage. But what the children will love best are all those delicious addresses in Guérande with their crêpes, kouign amanns and of course, their salted butter caramels!
