Camping La Coubre lighthouse, book your stay!
The La Coubre lighthouse, a must-visit during your holiday!
And what if you made the most of your stay at one of our campsites in the Charente-Maritime to climb to the top of its tallest lighthouse? Between beach and forest, the La Coubre lighthouse, along with that of Cordouan, is the guardian of the Gironde estuary. When spending a holiday in La Tremblade or on the La Palmyre beaches, enjoy the panorama it offers from the top of its towering 64m: there’s no more beautiful view in the Charente-Maritime!
But when you’re not busy hitting the heights, make the most of the very special natural setting offered by our luxury campsites. On the pretty Côte Sauvage, they’re waiting to welcome you to a fully-equipped mobile home or a tree-planted camping pitch where your tent, caravan or campervan will feel perfectly at home. In addition to the beaches of La Palmyre, Royan and Oléron, you’ll be able to enjoy the campsite’s water park with heated swimming pools and waterslides for the kids! Then, to get your fill of holiday activities, you can count on our outdoor entertainment organised just for you all summer-long! You’ll adore camping inspired by freedom!
Visit the La Coubre lighthouse with the family
The best way to reach the La Coubre lighthouse? By bike, along the Vélodyssée cycle track that crosses the immense forest surrounding it. Along the Côte Sauvage, no less than 4,820 hectares of pines make up the La Coubre forest where horse riders, hikers and cyclists come to forget the world and recharge the batteries. The perfect opportunity to offer the family a delightful excursion all the way to the famous red and white lighthouse!
After a picnic break looking out over the ocean, it’s time to head off up the staircase and its 300 steps in an interior entirely lined in opaline blue glass tiles. Having reached the top, the view more than rewards the effort: the entire Côte Sauvage, from the Île d’Oléron to the Corduan lighthouse, is laid out at your feet!
Visit the La Coubre lighthouse as a couple
Once you’ve taken that unmissable selfie of the two of you at the top of the La Coubre lighthouse, don’t miss the chance to visit its museum as well. There’s no better way to discover all there is to know about the “Giant of Light” that stands guard over the Côte Sauvage!
Make the most of its very special location between ocean and forest to combine your visit with a pleasant outing along the seashore. Either side of the La Coubre lighthouse, the vast dunes line the coast as far as the eye can see, to the south towards the Bonne Anse bay, to the north towards the Côte Sauvage. Choose your direction and enjoy a romantic stroll, gently lulled by the sound of the ocean waves!
