If there is one place in Rochefort that is totally dedicated to the family, it’s the Arsenal des Mers, an ensemble of 4 sites each as grandiose as it is emblematic of the town. So, ready to live an epic adventure?
Let your journey begin aboard the famous replica of Lafayette’s ship, L’Hermione. Continue with an exploration of the immense Royal Rope Factory, created in the reign of the Sun King and now waiting to reveal all the secrets of the Navy. Then it’s off to play pirates, jumping from mast to mast at the Accro-Mâts adventure park, before ending your day with a visit to the legendary National Maritime Museum. Finally, head back to your campsite for a well-deserved rest!
Visit Rochefort as a couple
The advantage of Rochefort for a romantic visit together? Everything is easily accessible on foot or by bike! From the town centre, follow the meanders of the Charente all the way to the coast. Between dunes and lagoons, you’ll suddenly find yourselves opposite the sublime Charente archipelago. You can’t resist the call of the sea? Then it’s time to weigh anchor!
After a short 30min crossing, disembark on the island of Aix, a little corner of paradise where nature rules supreme. Between strolling hand-in-hand at the water’s edge and visiting the Napoleonic Museum or that of Fort Liédot, time slips past unseen.
