Connecting Barbâtre on the Island of Noirmoutier to Beauvoir-sur-Mer on the mainland, the Passage du Gois is a causeway that disappears and reappears with each tide, a veritable natural curiosity in the Vendée. And it certainly deserves its very own event! It is across this natural bridge that each year the Foulées du Gois, a “race against the sea” are held, with some thirty runners measuring their speed against that of the rising tide.

All through the day, other races are organised on the exposed causeway. Open to everyone, they attract nearly 2,000 runners each year, turning the Foulées du Gois into an unmissable event in the Vendée. Come and cheer them on during your stay on the Island of Noirmoutier!
