Saint-Lô, the ideal holiday destination!
Almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, Saint-Lô is, like many towns in Normandy, forever connected to this seminal moment in modern history. It would, however, be a shame to stop at that because the town has a lot to offer for families or couples on holiday: hiking, heritage and good food are all on the agenda. Visit Saint-Lô with the family
Ride around the Manche department and Normandy on a bicycle for a family activity that will appeal to campers big and small! Mount your trusty two-wheeler and pedal along at your own pace through the green meadows of Normandy or along the region’s coast. And it couldn’t be easier as the whole area is criss-crossed with cycle paths. So hop on your bikes and off you go!
If your children are keen on horse-riding, the “capital of the horse” is just perfect for them. From a horse ride to a tour of the National Stud, it will be horses, horses, horses, from morning to night – much to the delight of your young riders!
Visit Saint-Lô as a couple
How about some romance in the Manche? Garden lovers – or just lovers! – if you want to take some time out in a peaceful green haven, we recommend a trip to one of the pretty gardens around Saint-Lô. The Jardin d’Elle and its multi-coloured floral displays are like something out of a fairy tale, and the ideal spot to declare (or reaffirm!) your undying devotion!
If you’re keen on outdoor sports, then head for the Vire valley. Choose your vessel – a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard then select your route (4, 6 or 12 km) and cast off on the waters of the River Vire. Back on dry land, pull on your walking boots and set off on a hike in the heart of the Manche.
