The Alpilles, the ideal holiday destination!

A stay in the Alpilles is all about taking your time, slowing down and enjoying the present moment amidst outstanding natural surroundings. On foot, on a bicycle, on horseback or on a tour of the charmingly characteristic villages... choose how you want to explore this natural park spanning 50,000 hectares between Avignon, Salon-de-Provence and Arles, with family, friends or your special someone. Go on, treat yourself!

Gorgeous green surroundings, that special kind of calm typical to Provence, comfortable accommodation, the Palace of the Popes and the famous Avignon bridge nearby... all that awaits at your Sandaya campsite in the Gard. Still want more? Then a water park for all the family, the free children’s clubs and the entertainment should be enough to keep you satisfied!

Visit the Alpilles with the family

Explore the Alpilles with the family and you’re sure to encounter a few animals! Which is only to be expected in such a lovely green haven where animals and nature reign supreme! Your little treasures will love trekking through the lovely countryside on the back of a horse or a donkey, gathering precious memories as they go!

And the fun doesn’t stop there – quite the contrary! A whole host of outdoor activities awaits your little tribe: take your budding adventurers hiking, cycling, on a quad bike excursion or climbing and let them have fun as they really get to know the Alpilles. Back at the campsite, snuggle down for a good night’s sleep so you’re raring to go again the next day!

Visit the Alpilles as a couple

Lovebirds can indulge all their senses in the Alpilles, a region renowned for its gourmet excellence. Visit the Provençal markets and admire the colours as you breathe in the aromatic and floral fragrances, then enjoy a wine-tasting session to complete the sensory experience!

And to further stir your senses, take a tour of the local heritage. Travel back to ancient times with the ruins of the old city of Glanum, pay homage to Alphonse Daudet and his Letters from my Windmill collection of short stories at Saint-Pierre mill, and admire the religious heritage with the cloisters of Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery and the Saint-Sixte chapel... more than enough to make you fall madly in love with Provence!

Camping The Alpilles: our handy tips for a successful stay

Les Baux-de-Provence, in the heart of the Alpilles range, is an open-air museum that you simply must visit. Among its many sights, the medieval citadel and the Quarries of Light are definitely worth a trip.

Say Provence, and you’ll think of olive oil! Provence’s green gold, as it is known, is an indulgence to be enjoyed without moderation. And make sure you take some home with you.

Play at being Tiger Woods for a few hours in a stunning Provençal setting! Visit the golf course in Servanes to practise your swing as you admire the scenery.

From Van Gogh to Alphonse Daudet, the Alpilles have inspired some of the world’s greatest artists and you’ll immediately understand why they fell in love with the region as you visit the Provençal villages, starting with St-Rémy-de-Provence.
