The River Ardèche, the ideal holiday destination!

In Ardèche, there is a place that will satisfy the yearnings of both those who like to laze and those who love sporty activities, and that’s the eponymous river! Campers of every age can splash around and swim in the clear waters of the river or, if they prefer, lie back and listen to the gentle lapping sound. Or why not go canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, or climbing in this magical natural setting?

And if you want to be sure of a happy holiday, the best base from which to explore the Ardèche is one of our Sandaya campsites! There, everything is designed to offer you an unforgettable stay: heated water parks, a spa for some serious relaxation, free children’s clubs for your little ones, and the little extra to top things off? Direct access to the river.

Visit the River Ardèche with the family

Under the famous Pont d’Arc, the gateway to the Gorges de l’Ardèche, the whole clan can join in the swimming and splashing fun! This 60-metre limestone arch will stand as a silent and majestic witness to your special family moments. It will also make the perfect backdrop for your holiday snaps in or out of the water!

Not far from there, you can add another of the Ardèche’s treasures to your list of family outings: the Chauvet 2 cave. This is an identical reproduction of the original UNESCO-listed cave and contains some magnificent cave paintings dating back some 36,000 years! A welcome dose of culture before you head back for another dip in the river!

Visit the Ardèche as a couple

Aaaaah, the Ardèche! A little corner of paradise for nature lovers, or... just lovers! In the heart of this idyllic natural setting, where romance comes in a variety of forms, you can spend some enchanting time together! Explore the river as you descend the Gorges de l’Ardèche in a canoe, savour a picnic on one of the riverside beaches or set out on a hike in the shade of the trees. Take your pick!

The River Ardèche crosses or meanders around several Ardèche villages, some of which are included on the list of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France”, such as Balazuc and Vogüé. Take the opportunity to explore them during a road trip by car or on a bicycle, letting the river guide you. Hit the road, lovebirds!

Camping River Ardèche: our handy tips for a successful stay

The clear waters of the River Ardèche are of outstanding quality, so all the family can enjoy a dip with full peace of mind.

As you explore the river and its surroundings, you’ll come across some excellent addresses offering delicious local produce. Indulge in the chestnuts, cheeses and wines – but don’t overdo it!

The rivers harbour some outstanding plant and animal ecosystems that you can appreciate close up, but please respect one rule: admire with your eyes, not your hands!

Music lovers, take note: the unmissable Aluna Festival celebrates pop and rock at the gateway to the Gorges de l’Ardèche every summer. A rocking atmosphere and great mood guaranteed!
