Then head down to the landing stage ready to leave town by boat and lose yourselves amongst the greenery of Barthelasse Island. On your return from your country island idyll, it’s time to relax with a glass of wine accompanied by an aubergine “papeton” a speciality of the town. Finally, as Provence is synonymous with lavender it’s hardly surprising that it has its very own museum in Avignon.
