Castelnau-le-Lez, the ideal holiday destination!

As wonderfully peaceful as Montpellier is buzzing with life, Castelnau-le-Lez attracts holidaymakers in search of tranquillity and nature. Separated from the capital of the Hérault by the Lez, in times past it drew townsfolk attracted by the cool shade of its riverbanks. Today, it continues to play exactly the same role and summer is without doubt the season when Castelnau-le-Lez is at its most attractive!

Just a few minutes away, you can continue to enjoy all the delights of a world far from the everyday, in the lush green setting of our campsite in the Hérault, mid-way between the Mediterranean beaches and the untamed inland regions. Relish a well-earned rest in a cottage, a lodge tent or on a camping pitch with the family and relax by the swimming pools and waterslides of the water park. And when it comes to entertainment, take your pick there’s something for everyone and every age: free clubs for the kids, aquagym lessons, volleyball competitions and tennis championships. Here, your holiday will be exactly as you imagined it!

Visit Castelnau-le-Lez with the family

Summer in the Hérault can be very hot. So, for a change from the beaches at Palavas-les-Flots, come and savour the refreshing cool of Castelnau on the banks of the Lez: there’s nothing better than a family picnic at the water’s edge!

After waking up gently at the campsite, it’s time to head for the Monplaisir Park nearby. In days gone by it was home to a “guinguette”, an informal restaurant for dancing and dining by the riverside, and it remains the perfect spot for taking a stroll, relaxing or enjoying lunch by the water. It even has several picnic tables waiting for you in the shade of the plane trees and, for the icing on the cake, the children can have plenty of fun in a playground intended just for them. In fact, it has all you could want for a glorious afternoon with the family!

Visit Castelnau-le-Lez as a couple

Castelnau-le-Lez has plenty of other magical spots for a refreshingly cool moment in the shade of its wooded parklands! But if you’re in search of a romantic corner, then the ideal place is without doubt the vast Méric Park, once the home of the impressionist painter Frédéric Bazille. On the banks of the Lez that marks the boundary with Montpellier, this ten-hectare estate is certain to make you forget just how close you are to the town centre!

Poppy meadow, orchards, woodland... the whole estate is a veritable oasis of greenery to wander in perfect serenity. Up-and-coming athletes? There’s nothing better than a little gentle jogging or an outing by bike, to explore the bucolic landscapes and take a great breath of fresh air!

Camping Castelnau-le-Lez: our handy tips for a successful stay
