Dog Friendly Camping : book your stay

Your dogs are welcome to come camping with Sandaya!

Our aim here at the Sandaya campsites? To ensure that you spend a fabulous holiday with all those you love best, including your four-footed friends! So no need to find someone to look after the dog: he’s welcome at our 4 and 5 star campsites, whether on a camping pitch or in a mobile home. Although current legislation imposes restrictions on certain categories (breeds listed as guard dogs or attack dogs), all the others will quickly feel at home on our vast tree-planted estates!

When they’re not busy playing on your camping pitch or on your garden furniture, then they’ll be begging for a walk along the beach or to go exploring the mountain footpaths. There’s nothing better to get a great breath of pure fresh air, for them as well! And since, after a long day of doggy activities, Fido might just need a bit of a clean-up, some of our campsites even have dog showers just for him. So your faithful companion can return to his holiday basket all squeaky clean and everyone can sleep soundly in their beds!

Our great ideas for your campsite holiday

Allow €5 for a pitch and €8 for a rental unit, per night and per dog, to accommodate your pet. A question? Contact the campsite, they’ll be delighted to help!

Forget those tearful good-byes when you head off on holiday! This year, your bundle of fur can come with you wherever you go.

Within the campsite, your canine companions are always welcome... as long as they stay on a lead!

Fields as far as they eye can see, endless stretches of sand, vast forests... Your dog is going to love his new playground!

Top ideas for holidays with your dog

A holiday at a campsite in the heart of nature, in the most beautiful regions of France and Europe – what a wonderful thought! And if you bring your dog with you, it’s even better! They’re an integral part of the family, and leaving them behind is heart-wrenching for them, for you and, of course, for your children. Avoid the stress of separation and enjoy each other's company by booking a stay at one of our dog-friendly campsites.

Whether at a campsite by the seaside or surrounded by lush nature, you can enjoy a whole variety of fun activities and experiences with your faithful companion. What’s on offer when holidaying at a campsite where dogs are welcome? Walks in the fresh air, jogging on the beach, hiking on a mountainside, etc. Some water sports are also available: canoeing with your dog and swimming near the campsite.

As proof of this special hospitality, Sandaya campsites have been awarded the Qualidog label by the EmmeneTonChien website, which recognises establishments that provide extra-special care for our four-legged friends.

For a great campsite holiday with family, children and, of course, your dog, nothing should be left to chance. Here are our best Qualidog campsite destinations in France:

  • Campsites in Aquitaine: For a walk with your pet along the beautiful Atlantic beaches or deep in the Landes forest, head for a campsite in Aquitaine where dogs are welcome. These campsites can be found throughout the region, notably in Sanguinet, La Palmyre, Cap Ferret, Sarlat, Soustons, etc.
  • Campsites in Brittany: With its coastline and wide-open spaces in the heart of nature and by the water’s edge, Brittany is the ideal setting for activities with your dog. Campsites that welcome dogs can be found in Bénodet, Névez, Carnac, Plœmeur, etc.
  • Campsites in Corsica: In the morning, enjoy hiking along the dog-friendly trails of the Isle of Beauty, followed by a relaxing afternoon on the beach or swimming in the Mediterranean… All located near our campsite with swimming pool in Venzolasca, where dogs are welcome.
  • Campsites in Normandy: Normandy’s fresh, invigorating air is good for all the family, especially on the D-Day beaches and around Mont-Saint-Michel. Head for a dog-friendly campsite in Normandy, in Genêts, Maupertus-sur-Mer and Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer.
  • Campsites in Languedoc-Roussillon (Occitanie): Enjoy a holiday in Languedoc-Roussillon with your family, children and four-legged friend in the south of France. With rivers, beaches, lakes and hiking, you’ll find plenty of activities to enjoy with your dogs.
  • Campsites in Auvergne-Rhône-Alps: You can spend your holiday in the heart of nature with your pets and enjoy a range of unforgettable experiences, including Ardèche and Lake Annecy and its beaches.
  • Campsites in Centre-Val de Loire: A protected area in Sologne, take a stroll in the park of one of the Loire châteaux, with your dogs following you everywhere!
  • Campsites in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur: Saint-Raphaël or Saint-Aygulf, whether it’s the beaches of the Côte d’Azur or the Provence countryside, there’s a wide range of options for enjoying wonderful family holidays in the south of France with your loved ones, children and dog.
  • Campsites in Vendée: Lots of dog-friendly campsites in western France, particularly around Talmont-Saint-Hilaire and Saint-Jean-de-Monts, would be delighted to welcome you and your pet. You can enjoy the beach together, as well as the many services and activities on offer at the campsite.

If you enjoy holidays outside France with your pets, set off together to explore the most beautiful areas of Europe from our dog-friendly campsites.

  • Campsites in Belgium: In the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, our dog-friendly campsites at Tellin offer beautiful walks in the heart of the forest. Refreshing and invigorating for the whole family, children and dogs included!
  • Campsites in Spain: Sunshine, beaches and the Mediterranean Sea await for your holidays on the Iberian Peninsula. You’ll find campsites in Spain where dogs are allowed in Puçol, near Valencia.
  • Campsites in Italy: Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia… Drink in the Italian landscapes at a campsite with your dog. Walks along the beach and through the vineyards are sure to be invigorating!

For great camping holidays with your dog, here are a few tips to remember.

  • Vaccinations and healthcare: Your dog’s health is paramount. Before a stay at one of our dog-friendly campsites, it’s important to make sure all their vaccinations are up to date (including their rabies vaccination if you’re heading outside France). A quick visit to the vet is also recommended to make sure everything is OK before you set off on holiday. Make a note of the contact details of the vet nearest the campsite where you’re staying.
  • Identification and documentation: Whether it’s a tattoo or a microchip, identifying your dog is a legal requirement in France. Are you staying at a campsite outside France? If so, remember to bring your European passport with you. This is also a legal requirement.
  • Transport: Never leave your dog alone in your vehicle when it’s hot, and take regular breaks. Also make sure they always have fresh water available throughout the journey.
  • The essentials: Your dog’s favourite basket and food bowl, their most chewed-up ball, favourite dry food, and so on. In short, everything your dog needs each day during your camping holiday at a site with swimming pool where dogs are welcome.
  • At the campsite: To make sure everything goes smoothly during your stay with your dog, there are a few rules to follow. Dogs must be kept on a lead, and their waste collected in bags (available on request). For everyone’s convenience, please make sure your dog doesn’t bother other guests at the campsite.

Good to know: In France, Category 1 and 2 dogs, such as pit bulls and Rottweilers, are not allowed in campsites.

At campsites with the Qualidog label (certification awarded by the EmmeneTonChien website to establishments committed to welcoming pets in the best possible conditions), everything is designed to make sure your dog enjoys its holiday as much as you do:

  • Canidouche: A dedicated space for washing your pet. Very useful after a day at the beach down by the seaside, a walk in the forest in the heart of nature or a hike through the countryside.
  • Agility courses: Many dog-friendly campsites offer sporting and recreational activities and experiences so your dog can let off steam and get some exercise.
  • Pet care service: If you need to step out for a while, some campsites provide pet care services by reservation. Please enquire at reception.
  • Dog-friendly beaches: To make sure your pet is welcome on the beach near the campsite, please ask at reception.

Your pets will be treated like royalty!

When at a campsite with your pets, a few rules must be followed to ensure everyone’s well-being.

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead in common areas to make sure other holidaymakers are safe and not disturbed.
  • Dogs aren’t allowed in certain areas of the campsite, in particular the aquatic spaces (swimming pools, water park) and dining area. These restrictions apply to all campsites in France.
  • Dog waste must be collected using bags available at the campsite reception or upon request.
  • Access for dogs to the beach is regulated and varies according to the local authority and time of year (often prohibited during the summer season from June to September, but permitted outside the summer season). Feel free to ask at the campsite reception for information on accessibility to the beaches near the campsite.
  • Please make sure your pet doesn’t disturb other holidaymakers with their barking and respects their personal space.
  • Campsites charge a fee of €5 per dog per night for empty pitch bookings and €8 per dog per night for accommodation bookings.
